Cutting out
Hi There, Just replaced the head on my 2lte with a new 3l head, motor fired up first time and ran smoothly, However, when decelerating or sitting at idle the motor cuts out, When putting the new head on I took the time to block the egr valve with a blanking plate to the intake manifold end. Checked ...

Altenator Idler arm bracket
Hi,
Replacing the head in the surf at the moment, managed to crack the idler arm bracket which tensions the altenator drive-belt and holds the air-con compressor up, does anyone know of any 2Lt - 3L surfs wrecking in Chch at the moment?
Cheers

3L Head on 2lte Block
Hi Guys, Got the head off the Surf, showing some corrosion damage and cracks through the valve stems surprise surprise... I am looking at putting a 3L head onto the 2lte block, does anyone know of any pitfalls or things I will need to watch out for, or take into account in my budget? I.e Are timing ...

Re: Trademe Cylinder Heads
A bare 3L head from Toyota is less than $1k retail, though personally I'd go for the trademe head and spend the saving on tidying up the cooling system. Consider getting the head cryogenically treated if you intend keeping the truck for some time. EDIT: Also, I'd stay away from a second hand head ...

Re: Trademe Cylinder Heads
So can a 3l head work on a 2lt-e block? I think I read a thread about this somewhere. Are there any advantages in swapping to a 3l head over a 2lt-e head? I.e less risk of cracking again. Bearing in mind I am an owner who does keep to the maintenance regieme (unlike the previous one...), and am ...

Re: Trademe Cylinder Heads
What is involved in prepping a head to bolt on if you buy a new 'bare head'?
Do you have to machine the head to swap the valves over and get them to seat properly?
Price was $875 + Gst for an 'exchange' head, I'm thinking he swaps the valve train over and gets it all sorted for that price.

Re: Aftermarket Stereo Installation
I'm south man, Chch, looks like its going to rain all weekend, so I will have some time up my sleeve to deal with this. Will probably make up some MDF mounts for the new speakers when I get them, probably just go for 4 new 4" at the moment. Anyone got any tips on the best value for money for 4 ...

Re: Aftermarket Stereo Installation
Did you tie your new speakers into the existing in-line amp system, bypass it or run completely new speaker wire through from the head unit? Checked the speakers again last night, I can hear the amp powering up, but still no sound. Speaker impedance is 2ohm and Head unit 4 - 8 ohm. Could this ...

Re: Aftermarket Stereo Installation
Yeah, new speakers will be the next step if I cant get the stockies to fire up, I was trying to avoid having to crack the panels open at the moment, but I will just replace with straight speakers or try and bypass the amps if I can't sort it soon, I need to get my tunes cranking as got some good ...

(From 1st Post at start of thread) http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/Toyota-Wiring.pdf The link above shows the wiring harness guide I was following, everything matched up sweet except that the 'J' pin had a green wire, and the "O" pin on the other connector had a white and black stripe wire. The ...

Re: Aftermarket Stereo Installation
Cheers for that, Yeah, I spliced the black/red and pink/blue together and attached to the power aerial wire from the head deck, this gives me the aerial power to go up and down, but no sound still. Do you know what the impedance in the stock speakers/ wires is? I will check the head units stats this ...

Checked drivers kick panel for fuse, 7.5A radio fuse blown.. this explains the lack of power from the 12V ignition lead, replaced and have power back. Not getting any illumination from my tester when connected to ground and 12V Battery now, is there another fuse for the direct 12V battery lead?

Re: 1993 SSR-G, 2LTE Valves...
Cheers for the heads up on the turbo related stuff, next chance I get I will try blanking the breather to see if oil still ends up in the delivery from the turbo above the intake manifold, this would indicate a leak from the turbo seal itself wouldn't it?
